What's new in Beta 0.8
Background engine, AI features, faster loads, vibrant UI.
Beta 0.8 ships a new background engine, fresh AI features, faster page loads, a rounder and easier UI, vibrant colors, and more posting options. Bug fixes across the board too. Studioship Group work is in progress.
Performance
We rebuilt the asset pipeline from scratch. Initial page loads are roughly 40% faster on median connections, and route transitions now stream instead of blocking. The biggest win is on mobile — first contentful paint dropped from ~2.4s to ~1.5s on a mid-tier Android device.
Visuals & UX
Rounder corners, deeper shadows, and a more vibrant accent palette across cards, buttons, and badges. Hover and press states now use spring-like easing instead of flat linear transitions, which makes the whole site feel more alive.
The new background engine renders animated gradients with hardware acceleration where supported, falling back to a static image on low-power devices.
Prefer it calm? Toggle Settings → Appearance → Reduce motion to disable animated backgrounds and hover bounces.
AI features
Look for the ✦ icon in the post composer. You can draft a caption, summarize a long post, or get a clip-title suggestion. Output is always editable — treat it as a starting point, never a final draft.
Known issues
A few rough edges remain: notification badges sometimes lag by a few seconds, and the Studioship Group preview is still gated to admins until May 7. Both are tracked and on the roadmap.
